The New York Giants are going to have to do something about their quarterback situation before their Sept. 9 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Aren’t they? They can’t possibly keep four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Can they?Well http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-connor-barwin-jersey , OK. They could. Because it’s been done before. And because that is what they have now after their initial 53-man roster was announced.But, will they? Highly unlikely.Much of the suspense on Saturday as the clock ticked toward the 4 p.m. ET 53-man roster deadline was about what the Giants were going to do at quarterback. There were early reports that Alex Tanney had been cut. Then, he wasn’t cut and the Giants were looking to get something in exchange for him. Then, reports were that it might be Davis Webb, drafted by then-GM Jerry Reese, who the Giants were looking to unload. Then, nothing happened. The Giants kept all four. But, it seems untenable that they would do that for the entire season. Or, really, any part of the season.I asked Mark Schofield, quarterback guru at Inside the Pylon and a contributor here at Big Blue View, for thoughts on teams that could be in the market for quarterbacks.Younger guy: New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles ChargersVeteran: Maybe the New York Jets. Buffalo Bills. Baltimore Ravens depending on what they do with RG3. Houston Texans.Chris Pflum chimed in with this list of possibilities:Webb: Jacksonville or Carolina (both unlikely because of schedule), maybe the Chargers (I don’t think they have a plan in place for post-Rivers. Maybe Detroit (showed out against them, and has a similar arm to Stafford).Lauletta: New England - they loved him and he’s similar to Jimmy G who Belichick and McDaniels liked (IIRC). Maybe Green Bay as well (scheme fit in the WCO, and they traded Brett Hundley).Tanney: Anywhere that either has an established vet without a clear back-up or a young QB who could use a mentor. Maybe some place like Kansas City, Cleveland (if they think he’s better than Drew Stanton), Buffalo. There’s only so much – they’re there, they’re not there. I don’t know how to answer that. There’s opportunities, there’s not opportunities. It’s just about taking advantage of the opportunities that are there.The word “frustration” keeps being tosses around“Frustration, I don’t know if that’s the right word. It’s just a matter of when it’s going to click. Like I said, we missed the first quarter of the season, we can’t have it back, but there’s still another three quarters. I always say this, you could’ve won the first eight and lost the first eight. It’s just about when you catch fire. He’s been doing this for a long time, so I don’t think there’s anything guys could say that is going to bother him.”He’s a Saquon Barkley fanBeckham enjoys what Barkley does so much that he sometimes forgets to do his job while watching the rookie running do Barkley Things with the ball in his hands.“What he can do is unreal. So whenever he gets the ball in his hands, I’m supposed to turn into a blocker but I turn into a spectator. I sit there and I’m watching him because it’s like a mirror image, I’m watching him break tackles and this and that, and I’m like ‘oh I’ve got to pick somebody up on a block.’ We trust fully what he can do and just putting the ball in his hands and letting him make plays. I know it’s early to say it, but in my opinion, he’s going to be one of the best in the league.”
