When two people in a Week 10 primetime game have three wins between them, then you know it’s not exactly a ratings draw. Regardless, we get to see the 49ers on prime time once more to close out 2018. The Sunday Night game will no doubt get flexed if it hasn’t already. The game will kick off at5:15 PM. Like last week, the 49ers are going to be looking a lot at what they have for next year. Nick Mullens’ near-record setting debut will be something to watch. The Giants have an awful defense, but they also provide a step up from the pits of despair that the Oakland Raiders offered. The Giants are having their own issues. Despite having a rookie running back that is establishing themselves as one of the league’s best and a wide receiver that’s already done so, their quarterback in Eli Manning is on his last dance. Despite winning two Super Bowls in his career, Manning has begun a severe regression and all his flaws are being exposed. The Giants have (currently) decided to stick with Manning for the game Monday Night, but this could change either before or during the game if Manning’s inept play continues. For Week 10, the Giants have a thin injury report and are looking to not have any players down. All players added to it were full participants for the two final practices. The Browns announced they would release Gordon on Monday barring any potential offers for a trade. Gordon is not subject to waivers, so once released he is free to sign with any team. 8-10 teams have called the Browns about Gordon, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported on Monday morning. She said some of the team were adamant about not wanting it know their organization is calling, but the 49ers are not one of those teams remaining quiet about it. General manager John Lynch told the 49ers beat writers on Sunday that the team was doing their due diligence on Gordon, but not much was said beyond that. Following the 49ers win over the Lions, Kyle Shanahan was also asked about getting Gordon and had this to say:Josh Gordon brings talent, but he also brings some headaches given his suspension history. The other issue beyond the off-field issues is how it could hurt the development of the younger wide receivers. Rookies Richie James and Dante Pettis are both donning uniforms now that Marquise Goodwin is injured and the addition of Gordon hurts their future development. There are only so many mouths to feed with the wide receiver group. There’s no denying that Gordon is a great wide receiver when healthy and his head is clean, but burning a roster spot for him is a huge risk (as seen with the Browns) at the cost of draftees’ future.
