Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Ennis third-period goal proved to be the difference in Buffalos 1-0 win over Los Angeles on Tuesday. Ennis scored the lone goal of the game on the power play early in the final stanza with assists coming from Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford to help the Sabres snap a two-game losing streak. Jhonas Enroth kept the Kings off the scoreboard with 34 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and first since the end of the 2012-13 season. Jonathan Quick was nearly as good as Enroth, turning aside 15 shots in the Kings second straight loss. Early in the third period, Robyn Regehr took a roughing penalty against his former team, and it proved costly to the Kings. Moulsons pass from behind the net found Ennis all alone in front of Quick, and he snapped it home at four minutes even. After the Buffalo goal, the Kings turned up the pressure even more, but Enroth met every challenge. Los Angeles outshot Buffalo in all three periods, and its 14-5 edge in the final period was its biggest. L.A. blueliner Drew Doughty tripped Ennis on a late rush to secure the win with an empty-net goal, leaving the Kings without their top defenseman for the final 67 seconds. Even with Quick out of the net in favor of the extra attacker, the Kings could not tie the game late, only producing one shot. Los Angeles outshot Buffalo 8-4 in a scoreless first period with no penalties. Enroth kept the puck out of the Buffalo net despite the Kings creating several scrambles in front of him. Both goalies again held strong in the second period with Enroth making 12 stops and Quick turning away seven. Game Notes Each team won a home game in the now-completed season series ... It was also a second straight tough loss for the Brewers, who fell 9-1 on Thursday to the Phillies despite Matt Garzas no-hit bid into the seventh inning. Manager Ron Roenicke was ejected in the ninth after arguing a strike call. Afterward, a visibly-shaken skipper closed the clubhouse and didnt take reporters questions, citing a death in the family of a player who he did not name. "For respect of him right now, were not going to let anybody in the clubhouse," Roenicke said. "Sorry, but these things are tough and I just dont want to leave any players open to anything." The Cardinals chipped away with three home runs off starter Yovani Gallardo. After a double steal, Milwaukee loaded the bases and eventually got a sacrifice fly from Ramirez and two-run double from Khris Davis for a 3-0 lead in the first. Gennett tripled in a three-run second inning during an at-bat extended after a fan in the first row down the left-field line reached for a catchable foul ball that eluded Holliday. Gallardo allowed five runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings against a career nemesis. Kelly gave up six runs and seven hits in three innings.
